Our ethos

Envirotrade is an ethical business. We work together with forest communities to grow trees that the community will nurture throughout the carbon sequestration cycle. Small farmers are assisted to maximise food production and are paid a percentage of the carbon trading revenue. The participating farmers, not Envirotrade, own the trees and land rights as well as all of the agricultural production from their land.

• Our objective is to build livelihoods by ploughing investment into poor local communities and their degraded environments and broker carbon offsets sequestered by habitat rehabilitation and sustainable land use practices on the international emissions trading market.
• Envirotrade aims to enrich the lives of small farmers, promote biodiversity and mitigate global warming while creating a healthy and sustainable business for the future. It is a groundbreaking business model that will bring about enormous and positive social, economic and environmental change to the developing world.
• Buying offsets from our projects is not simply a cynical mechanism to let polluters in the developed world off the hook – it is a way of bringing meaningful development to poverty stricken forest communities and contributing to the growing effort to address climate change.
